Inquiry question

"How or why must environments change?'

I think that environments must change/we must change environments to adapt to the following situations:
-Growing population; With the growing population, our cities are ever expanding due to the need for more homes, workspaces and places for people to live. Adelaide is a rapidly expanding city, there are new buildings being added on, more villages being built and it is busy most of every day.

-Climate chamge; Environments gradually change depending on what the climate is or where the environment is. Say for example a plant lives in a rainforest. It will usually have bigger leaves depending on how tall it is so it can catch more sunlight. We adapt to our environments by building environmentally stable and friendly buildings.

-Wars; depending on wether a country is usually at war, or is in an unstable circumstance, people will usually build an environment that can better protect them from the harm and damage that comes from war.

-Marketing and buisiness competition; people will build and make their buisinesses grow when the oppertunity rises. People most of the time want to do better than the 'other fast food store next door'. As humans we naturally have a love for competition.

There are other reasons that ar'nt as usual as the ones stated above like the fact that people dont know when to stop building.

City Day 3(the crowe flys away)

The day started with a ig lecture from Mr. Mead. My group then completed the Rundle Mall investigation apart from one question. We then traveled off to the World Vision talk. I found it fairly interesting. We were told statistics, about different situations that World Vision is facing worldwide, and how World Vision responds to them. Most importantly though, most of the questions in the booklet were answered.

Because the Central Markets were closed yesturday, we went to them again today to complete the investigation which was exactly what we did. Part of the investigation was to eat a meal in the food court and describe it. So we had lunch there and finished that part of the booklet.

I think that the three things that I enjoyed most about city week was going to the Central Markets and eating there, going to Rundle Mall eating and doing a bit of browsing after we finished our investiagtion and finally the interview at the Adelaide Convention Center because Mr. Bethely was such a nice man. After our stop at the Market we went back to the Mall for some more food. At about twelve, we went back to Pilgrim Hall to get changed and travel to City Beach where we played beach volleyball for a good three quaters of an hour. All groups participated in this event. The sand was burning and the sun scorched down. It was horrible having to put our shoes back on again because our feet were all sandy and sticky but dry at the same time. It was fun, but a little too hot fore enjoyment. There was half an hour of investigation before heading back to Pilgrim Hall to sign out and go home.

City Day 2 crowe

Today was my second day in the city. We started the day by going straight to the Central Markets. Not all the stalls had opened yet, and the food court was also closed so we were unable to complete our investigation. We walked down to the Town Hall for that tour which we were booked into. That only went for half an hour, and was cut even shorter due to the fact that our group needed to go to an interview at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Mr Gair Bethely was the person that we were set to interview. He was the head of training and development. We squeezed a fair amount of information out of him. After that we had a tour at the State library booked. We started walking down there and...err, that didnt quite go as planned, but we did end up doung the tour together. I found the tour very boring, as the giude kept on blabbering on about stuff that we already knew, and we didnt get much informatiion for our booklets. Because of the incident on the way to the Library, we had to stay at the hall for the rest of the day, which wasnt long thankfully. After begging and begging Mr Mead to let us go out and get some lunch, he finally let us go to the food court a few streets across from Pilgrim Hall. I was sooo hungry. I had a foot long sub and a burger and i was still hungry. The rest of the day was spent filling out our booklets and reading books in the shadows of Pilgrim Hall.
Today I walked to my mums work and from there we went home. Jole went home with me. Yes, my mum works at Wakefield Hospital on the corner of Wakefield and Hutt street.

City day 1(the crowe arrives)

This is my first day in city week. today was enjoyable, but we didnt get as much material completed as we had planned to do. First up we had the introduction to city week by Mr. Shillitoe. That went for an hour. As soon as that was finished my group went straight to Victoria Square and we did the most part of that invetigation. For lunch we went to Rundle Mall and ate in the Myer food court. I only had a six inch sub for lunch because I didnt bring enough money to get a foot long. We missed the bus for the bus route investigation and to the markets twice, so that was a complete waste of time. We did the Treasury Tunnel tour, it was interesting to here about the tunnels that ran to the train station and the post office. After the tour we went to the Central Markets to do part of that investigation because we didnt have enough time to do the whole thing.

lol

I usually dont go to the city often, only about once every forghtnight, not including church, which is Holy Trinity church. My church was the first church in South Australia to be established. Anyway, if I go to the city its usually to go to the central market. The market and Rundel Mall are my two most favourite places in the city. I love the market because it has such a variety of foreign and local food shops, and I love the Asian supermarkets because they have such cool food for so cheap. I like Rundel Mall because it has a big range of shops, some of them being of great interest to me.

The Empty Magazine

We have been learning about city week recently, the things we should expect and should be prepared for. It sounds like a lot of fun and I hope that it is. We are just setting up our blogs at the moment, and doing a lot of other preperation work. The police have also come around, and we had an english lesson in the old chapel where thy talked to us about saftey and self care.
